“Matanozoki”, meaning looking between one’s legs upside down, at “Amanohashidate”, which will make it appear like a bridge suspended in the air to heaven, is a famous style of looking at the scenery

Hachiman-bori(Omihachiman City):tour of beautiful cherry blossoms by boat
In connection with Architectural Design Studio V, the senior students toured Shioashiya district in Ashiya City, which was the first project site, and Hachiman-bori in Omihachiman City, which served as a good example of a space of the waterside.

First of all, they visited “BELLPORT ASHIYA” Marina in Shioashiya. Masaharu Yui from BELLPORT JAPAN Co., Ltd guided the students and explained the future planning of the neighborhood area, features of the marina, the structure of the float bridge that was able to correspond to the flow of the tide, and about the houses with berthing facilities, and so on. Then they toured Suzukaze-cho in Shioashiya and checked the surrounding landscape, such as the mountain range of the ROKKOSAN Mountains, the sea, and the state of the local area.

In the afternoon, they visited Hachiman-bori in Omihachiman City. By riding on boats to tour around Hachiman-bori, they were able to enjoy the scenery of the waterside and the beautiful cherry blossoms. Then, for future reference, they measured the width of the sidewalk, the distance from the sidewalk to the water and so on.
